Find out how total focus can hinder your ability to achieve your goals and dreams!

Total focus…We have all heard that word…Focus…What does it mean to you?  I was recently having a conversation with my husband and we were talking about this very word.  It can be a huge help in achieving what we want but did you know that it can also hinder our ability to achieve our goals and dreams.

WHAT YOU FOCUS ON IS WHAT YOU WILL ATTRACT. What does that mean?  We have all been really focused in our lives at one point or another.  When there is something you really want there is nothing and no one that can stand in your way.  If it was something you wanted to buy you worked over time to get it and you moved whatever mountain in your way to get it.  If it was a certain grade that you wanted to obtain in school you studied harder to achieve it.  Sometimes your focus caused you to block out the world to achieve the goal and other times it was just in the back of your mind while you went about your days. Do you follow? I am sure everyone of you has a time in your life that you can relate this too.

You need to have a focus to know where you want to go and the more clear of a picture you can paint or draw for yourself the straighter the path will be to get there.  However, HERE IS WHERE FOCUS CAN HINDER OUR ABILITY TO ACHIEVE WHAT WE WANT. This is how you have a goal in mind, you know what you want but instead of focusing on all the good points about the goal such as the action steps you need to take to get closer to your goal, the positive feelings you have about your goal and how good it would feel to achieve it, your focus is set on all the negative points such as where you are right now, how much work it is going to take to achieve it?  how long it is going to take? That you hate your current sitiuation, and you feel like you will never get out of this situation.  What you focus on you will attract…

What you focus on you will attract.  I know you all have a goal or dream you are currently working on.  Now you need to figure out whether you are focusing on the positive, good feelings and taking the appropriate action step toward it or is your total focus more on the negative side as to how long it is going to take and how much work will be involved.  If you do not believe that one-day you will achieve your dream or goal you wont.

The two keys steps in achieving your goals and dreams are:

  1. Being positive and maintaining your focus as well as having a clear picture as to where you want to end up will make your dream or goal acheivable. Just never give up your positive feeling about it as the goal might not manifest itself as soon as you would like it to.
  2. You need to be willing to take the appropriate steps toward your goal or dream. More then likely it is not just going to fall on your lap.

I will leave you with one last thought.  I heard this quote from Paul Tobey in a course I took from him: “Nothing big ever got created by a small idea” and “Keep the focus, give up the path.”  Simply meaning don’t worry about how you are going to get there just keep positive focus on what you want.
